Bay is the leaf of an evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. The spice is also known variously as “sweet bay”, “bay laurel”, “noble laurel” and “true laurel”. The whole leaf is used to provide an intense flavor in soups and stews and some spaghetti sauces. Be sure to pull out the leaf before serving.
Serving Tips:
Used to flavor sauces, soups, stews and pickling spices. Ground bay leaves are used in processed meats such as sausages.
